Though she never mentioned the names of her parents, the movie and TV actress grew up alongside an older brother who goes by the name, Murray Coombs. Murray who is a resident of Las Vegas was born on March 25, 1929.

Coobms commenced her acting career in the 1940s

Carol Coombs launched her acting career in an uncredited role on the set of the 1941 movie, Blossoms in the Dust. The next year, she recorded her breakout role as Marjorie Bishop in The Man Who Returned to Life. The same year, she recorded appearances in two films, On the Sunny Side as Patricia Roder (uncredited) and The Gay Sisters as Evelyn (uncredited).

Most of Carol’s earliest acting appearances were recorded in films. In 1944, she was seen in three movies – The Adventures of Mark Twain as Young Clara Clemens (uncredited), An American Romance as Tina Dangos – Age 6 (uncredited), and The Very Thought of You as Child Playing (uncredited). The year 1945 was when she showed up in The Clock in an uncredited role as Child and Man Alive in another uncredited role as Angel. In 1946, Carol Coombs recorded three roles as Lola (uncredited) in The Perfect Marriage, Orphan Girl (uncredited) in Sentimental Journey, and The Bailey Child in It’s A Wonderful Life. The latter turned out to be her best-known project to date and sharing the screen with actors like James Stewart and Donna Reed who were featured as her parents was a huge plus for Coombs.

Between 1947 and 1950, Carol Coombs was featured in five films namely, Driftwood as One of McDougal’s Children (uncredited), The Boy with Green Hair as Girl (uncredited), Knock on Any Door as Angie Romano (uncredited), Mighty Joe Young as Girl (uncredited), and Tea for Two as a Friend of Lynne & Richard (uncredited). By 1951, she scored one of her most popular roles as Susie in The Mating Season. The same year, Carol Coombs made her debut on the small screen in an episode of The Bigelow Theatre. This was followed by another appearance in one episode of Fireside Theatre which increased her popularity.

She recorded her first voice role in 1953 in Peter Pan and 1955 joined the cast of the short movie, One Spooky Night. Carol’s next role on television was witnessed the same year when she played Judy Connor in one episode of My Friend Flicka. She was featured in another, series, Death Valley Days as Cora Brooks in two episodes the next year. Also in 1956, the movie and TV actress appeared in an uncredited role as Girl at Party in The Unguarded Moment. She was last seen in 1957 in the series, Cheyenne (one episode) as Martha and in the movie, Summer Love as Bit Role (uncredited).
