How old is Whitney Sudler-Smith of Southern Charm?

Whitney Sudler-Smith is 56 years old. He was born in Washington DC on June 2, 1968, but grew up in Virginia. His family moved to Virginia when he was still a child but Whitty hasn’t revealed much about his early years. His mother worked as an art dealer and a socialite while his father was an investment banker. There is no mention of whether he had any siblings while growing up, but there are heavy indications that his parents raised other children.

Lon Hayes Smith, his father, worked as an investment banker for Morgan Stanley and lived on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. His mother, Patricia Altschul (formerly Pat Dey-Smith), was a well-known art dealer at the time and a socialite. Sudler-Smith spent the majority of his boyhood in Virginia and later earned degrees from both George Washington University and Georgetown Day School. Additionally, he continued his education at the Alliance Française in Paris, and finally, at Oxford University.

Smith is pretty well educated, and his educational achievements are too many to count. His parents were well-to-do, as evidenced by the quality of schools he attended and so he probably had plenty of interesting hobbies as a kid. The only known hobby of his to date, however, is that he plays the guitar. Sudler-Smith also picked up guitar training while he was growing up.

Meet Whitney Sudler-Smith’s parents

During his lifetime, Lon was also an MBA holder from the American University. Lon Hayes Smith retired as the Senior Vice President of Morgan Stanley, in 2004. They lived in Maryland with Whitney as the only child produced during the marriage. To date, he has no siblings as none of his parents had any more kids. Unfortunately, Whitney’s childhood wasn’t the smoothest. His parents, who met each other at George Washington University, decided to get divorced after being married for 14 years.

Their divorce was surprisingly uncontroversial and ended on an amicable note. Patricia married two other men after Whitney’s dad—Edward Stitt Fleming in 1989 and Arthur Altschul in 1996, the latter passed away in 2002.

Whitney Sudler-Smith’s father passed away in his Easton, Maryland mansion on August 22, 2021, aged 84. Whitney Smith admitted to how broken he felt after his father’s death.

Whitney Sudler-Smith’s career exploits

Sudler-Smith is the creator and executive producer of Southern Charm, a reality show on Bravo that chronicles the social life of young folks living in Charleston. Southern Charm looks at the lives of young professionals in Charleston and any profession is welcome. So far on the show, there have been lawyers, fashion designers, local celebrities, a former state treasurer of South Carolina, and many other career-driven people looking to find love.

Sudler-Smith is also the executive producer of two spin-off series, Southern Charm Savannah and Southern Charm New Orleans. Whitney Sudler-Smith has been described as “very interesting,” but much less amazing when compared to his mother, Patricia Altschul. This description of the filmmaker was written by The New York Post columnist, Gregory Miller. It isn’t surprising that Whitney has a knack for storytelling, considering that he comes from a family of renowned artists.

His late stepfather, Arthur Goodhart Altschul, was also an art collector. Arthur used to be the chairman of the Yale University Art Gallery and he played an indispensable role in Smith’s interest in the arts. His mother was also heavily involved in his career as well, making poignant voiceovers about the various characters that come on her son’s show. Sudler-Smith began his career in film by first working as a director. He came to Los Angeles from Virginia in 1996, after which he directed two small films titled Afternoon Delight and Going for Baroque.

Two years later, in 1998, Whitney released an Indie film called Bubba and Ike. The movie, described as a redneck buddy comedy, starred actors Elisa Gabrielli and Jesse Borrego. Bubba and Ike was Whitney’s first movie to be screened at the Austin Film Festival. In 2002, Smith wrote and directed Torture TV, another Indie film that starred Danny Huston and Trevor Goddard. Sudler-Smith later directed the documentary Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston, a story about the famous fashion designer Roy Halston in 2010.

Using historical video and interviews with celebrities, including Anjelica Huston, Billy Joel, Liza Minnelli, and Anthony Haden-Guest, the movie focuses on the club scene in Manhattan in the 1970s. Following a worldwide theatrical run, the film was bought by Showtime and is now available to stream on Peacock and Amazon Prime. Sadly, the movie received generally unfavorable reviews; it presently has a Rottentomatoes.com rating of 33%. Whitney persisted though, and resumed his job. He chose to attempt screenwriting this time.

The scripted comedy Family Office is in pre-production, according to Sudler-Smith.

The filmmaker has amassed several millions of dollars in his career even though he hasn’t won any awards for a showcase. He has made a significant contribution to television and is still doing a fantastic job. Sudler-Smith also has a restaurant in Charleston.

Is Whitney on Southern Charm married?

Whitney hаѕ nоt dіѕсlоѕеd much regarding hіѕ реrѕоnаl lіfе. Іt іѕ а соmрlеtе ѕесrеt, one he is unwilling to dіѕсuѕѕ with the media. Не іѕ ѕіnglе ассоrdіng tо thе available dаtа online. There were unconfirmed speculations about him dating Naoemi of Southern Charm, but he never confirmed any of it.

Does Whitney Sudler-Smith have a child?

Whitney doesn’t have a child presently. He is also not married. Although not getting married hasn’t stopped anyone from having kids, it seems like a reason for Whitney to put off having children. There is also a possibility that he simply doesn’t want children, married or not. Whatever his reasons might be, there are no mini Whitney’s running about anywhere at the moment.
