Enrique Álvarez Félix was a prolific Mexican actor best known for the numerous roles he played in several movies and television shows, including Corazón Salvaje, El retrato de Dorian Gray, De pura sangre, and Marisol. Félix died at the age of 62, having lived up to the reputation of the only son of one of Mexico’s most famous actresses, Maria Félix. The late actor grew up in the spotlight and had the platform to easily grow his career at an early stage. While he didn’t attain the level of fame his mother enjoyed in her lifetime, Félix was able to carve a niche for himself in the movie industry.

Enrique Álvarez Félix’s early life and family background

Born Enrique Álvarez Félix, the Mexican thespian was the only child of actress María Félix and he was sired by her first husband, Enrique Álvarez Alatorre. His date of birth is not public knowledge. Félix was born on April 6, 1934, in Guadalajara, Mexico, to Maria Felix and Enrique Alvarez Félix. His parents weeded in 1931 and went on to enjoy seven years of matrimony before their union crashed in 1938. Maria first got custody of Enrique and took him to live with her parents until 1939 before they headed out to Mexico. After that, Enrique went to live with his father.

His mother’s third marriage to Jorge Negrete made Félix a step-brother to Jorge’s daughter, Diana Negrete. The names of the academic institutions he attended are not known but according to reports, Enrique Álvarez Félix had some bad experiences during his days in school. He received a beating with a stick while in his underwear in the presence of his classmates. The reason for the beating was that he came late to school by a minute and the shame he faced made him the iron, reserved, and severe personality he was until his demise.

Born on April 1914, Maria Félix is a native of Alamos, Sonora, Mexico. She was one out of 16 children born to Bernardo Félix Flores and Josefina Güereña Rosas. Maria earned a living in the entertainment industry as a model for painters, fashionistas, actresses, and a muse for writers. Dubbed the most famous Mexican actress that ever lived, Enrique Álvarez Félix’s mom created what has been referred to as a larger-than-life personality. She recorded a total of 47 onscreen appearances and most of those productions remained unforgettable simply because of the roles she played in each of them.

More than an actress, Maria built an image of an Amazon, she has been described as a one-liner of sorts that went beyond the old-fashioned role of Latin American ladies. Her fame and popularity went beyond her birth country Mexico to Spain, Latin America, Italy, and France. She never learned English and refused to appear in English movies, thus, her fame was majorly felt in Latin countries.

Apart from her first marriage to Enrique Álvarez Félix’s dad, Maria wedded three other men. Famed Latin composer, Agustín Lara married her in October 1945 and they ended things in 1948. Maria’s third spouse was Jorge Negrete who became her husband on the 18th of October 1952 until his death the next year. Her husband number four was Alex Berger (1956 till his death in 1974).

Enrique Álvarez Félix is a movie and TV actor who debuted on the small screen in 1970 as part of the cast of El juicio de los padres. His next series appearance was in 1964 when he graced the screen in two productions – La mujer dorada as and Casa de vecindad. Felix made his big screen debut in 1965 when he appeared in Simon of the Desert as Hermano Matías, Las dos Elenas – 1965 and Los cuervos están de luto. The same year, he also recorded two roles in the series, Alma de mi Alma.

Felix began scoring his best-known roles in 1966 when the movie star joined the cast of the TV series, Corazón salvaje where he was featured as Renato Duchamp. His next big role was realized on the set of El retrato de Dorian Gray as Dorian Gray In 1969. Between 1985 and 1986, the Mexican thespian played Leonardo Altamirano in De pura sangre. One of the best of Enrique Álvarez Félix was appearing in 86 episodes of Marisol as Leonardo Garcés del Valle in 1986.

He died at the age of 62

Enrique Álvarez Félix died at the age of 62 and his death occurred on the 24th of May 1996. His cause of death was listed as a heart attack. The Mexican actor actually predeceased his mum and it was a devastating experience for Maria who never had another child. She later died on April 8, 2002.
