Taim Hasan – born on February 17, 1976, is 48 years old. Hasan is a veteran Syrian actor who is best known for playing the title character, King Farouk on the Ramadan Egyptian hit television series. Hasan started acting towards the end of his studies at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in 2000 and since then, the thespian has made a name for himself in the Arab World entertainment industry.

When was Taim Hasan born?

Taim Hasan was born on 17th February 1976 in Tartus, Syria’s second-largest port city but he is from Al-Shaykh Badr. The 48-year-old actor is obviously Syrian by nationality, but his ethnic background is Asian.

Hasan has never mentioned the identities of his parents in public but it is common knowledge that his dad was raised in Germany and earns a living as a German language teacher. His mom is also in the same profession as an Arabic language teacher. His family is a middle-class one, they relocated with Hasan to Damascus when he was four.

Taim Hasan is an alum of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts from where he graduated in 2001. According to him, he was rejected the first time he applied to the institution. However, he never accepted defeat and went on to apply again while the Syrian actor Jamal Suliman was present and his countryman saw the promise and potential that others couldn’t see in him.

What does Taim Hasan do for a living?

Before he finished his studies at the High Institute for Dramatic Arts, Taim Hasan moved into the entertainment industry as a movie and TV actor. Within a short while, he began earning influential roles in popular Syrian television series.

Hasan scored his first role as a member of the cast of the Hatem Ali-directed Syrian series, entitled, The Philanderer Salem in 2000. His breakthrough was scored the next year in another Hatem Ali-directed series, Saladin. On the set of Saladin, Taim breathed life into the character of “the Fatimid Caliph Al-Aded Ledin Allah”.

By 2006, the Syrian thespian has recorded numerous roles in quite an impressive number of productions, sharing the screen with some of the best Syrian actors, including Jamal Suliman and Ayman Zidan.

Taim Hasan next joined the cast of the romantic drama, Along Days as the leading character. Following this, fortune smiled on him as he was handpicked to join a major Ramadan Egyptian hit television series in Egypt in 2007 depicting the title role of King Farouk. Reports say several Egyptian actors had already rejected the role before Taim took it and was able to save Dr. Lamis Gaber’s project which she has been on for the past 15 years. Accepting the role of King Farouk meant that Hasan who closely resembled the historical monarch had to shave his hair off and for the four months and a half it took to complete filming, his hair remained shaved. Hasan also needed to wear a lot of makeup and a body suit to make him look exactly like the late Egyptian king.

He has also played other notable historical figures like Syria’s most famous poet, Nizar Qabbani in a series of the same name in 2005. He went back to Egypt to film a cinematic role in Mecano which hit the screen on January 28, 2009, starring the likes of Egyptian actor, Khaled El Sawi and Lebanese actress, Nour.

Mecano is a psycho-drama centered around a young architect afflicted by a rare health condition that affected his short-term memory. Taim’s character falls in love with a lady, Amira who assists him in overcoming his ordeal.

Taim Hasan has been married twice with one divorce under his belt. His first wife is Dima Bayaa – a Syrian actress whom he wedded on the 1st of July 2004. The couple’s union birthed two kids, Ward and Fahad. Fans actually saw Taim and Dima’s marriage as a union made in heaven until it came crashing after ten years. He is currently married to Egyptian TV presenter, Wafaa El Kilani and they have been together since 2017.
